Eligibility

Retired faculty from the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Whiting School of Engineering, Carey Business School, School of Advanced International Studies, the Peabody Institute, and the School of Education are eligible to join The Academy at Johns Hopkins, Homewood Campus.

Membership in The Academy reflects a commitment to remain actively engaged in scholarly, research and academic life. Members are expected to participate in Academy weekly meetings and activities. New members are invited to deliver a valedictory lecture to fellow Academy colleagues.

Are you a current faculty member planning for retirement and wondering what it takes to become eligible? Faculty are eligible for retirement from Johns Hopkins, and thus eligible for Academy membership, if they are:

  • Age 55 or older with at least 10 years of full-time service, or
  • Have at least 30 years of full-time service, regardless of age.
